How important it is to check the gas equipment on boats regularly, shows the numbers of gas explosions in the past.
If the owner wants his insurance to reimburse the costs for the damage of his own or other boats, he has to prove that the maximum (technical) safety on board was provided.
Not only insurance companies also authorities and marinas may require a certificate of gas equipment.
The ISO 10239 standard as a basic
regulates the installation and the primary screening of a gas system for the manufacturers of “small craft from 2.5 to 24 meters length”. An inspection of the gas installations must be performed every 2 years. The “Technical Rule G608” is internationally recognized and was established by DVFG (Deutscher Verband Flüssiggas e.V.).
