Safety first: Safety is the focus of the SeaHelp appearance at the Boot Tulln 2020

SeaHelp hall 6, booth 657 - Austrian Boat Show - boot Tulln 2020
Safety on board will be the main focus of the SeaHelp nautical breakdown service at its trade fair appearance at the Austrian Boat Show - Boot Tulln from 5 to 8 March in Hall 6, Stand 657, with the most important feature being the daily appearance of SeaHelp boss Wolfgang Dauser and the technology specialist Leo Hugl who will inform interested visitors at 1:45 p.m. in the lecture centre in Hall 8 on the topic: "Why can a liquid gas system, a 12/24 volt on-board power supply, an air conditioning system or an independent heater on board be life-threatening? In addition, employees of SeaHelp's cooperation partner KIRT Steiermark (Styria) will be available to answer questions regarding telephone medical support in medical emergencies on board. This is a topic that has become much more relevant, especially against the current background of the spread of the Coronavirus.

The incident on a charter boat off the coast of Hvar, in which the entire crew was apparently poisoned with carbon monoxide due to exhaust fumes from a generator on board, which ultimately cost the life of one crew member, as well as an accumulation of fires on board that has been observed in recent years, has prompted SeaHelp to place the current trade fair appearance at the Austrian Boat Show – Boat Tulln – under the motto “Safety on Board”.

In addition to daily lectures in Hall 8 (1.45 p.m.) which are dedicated to the safety of electrical installations, auxiliary heating and LPG installations on board and their possible interactions, the technical expert Leo Hugl will also be available at the SeaHelp stand to answer individual questions. The subject area will be supplemented by practical tips for practical use from SeaHelp CEO Wolfgang Dauser who brings the experience of his 15 years of work in nautical breakdown service with him.

“Developments in recent years have shown that the significant increase in electrical installations on board, especially when retrofitted, also led to an increase in the problems associated with them,” says Wolfgang Dauser. “Often it is small things that help to prevent larger, sometimes dangerous problems from occurring in the first place”. However, not only the safety of the electrical installations should be checked again and again: “With a simple carbon monoxide detector for less than 50 Euros one could have saved a life on the charter boat off Hvar at that time”, Wolfgang Dauser continues. Therefore, the presentation with the manufacturer-independent advice should also show very pragmatic solutions. The subsequent discussion can then be deepened at the SeaHelp stand.

In addition, employees of KIRT Steiermark will be present to answer questions about the telemedical services. After a beta phase of one year, SeaHelp has decided to integrate these services into the Charter and Premium Pass via the independent cooperation partner KIRT Steiermark, so that they are free of charge for SeaHelp members who have chosen this form of membership. Of course, holders of the Standard and Smart Pass can also take advantage of the availability of an English-speaking doctor, but at the fee rates of KIRT Steiermark.
