SeaHelp travel guide: Uvala Lucica, Uvala Sakarun, Uvala Cuna

Adria, Area guide, Croatia, Video news

There is one insider tip for holidaymakers in Croatia, including water sports enthusiasts, and this is the area around Dugi Otok island.

Flat sloping shores of pebble and sand beaches, the Telascica natural preserve, dreamy bays and numerous places of tourist interest offer that kind of photographic backdrops all along the way which even touristic advertising brochures can hardly surpass. Photo enthusiasts confidently should forget about Photoshop & Company as, depending on the time of the day, nature is supplying the most beautiful pictures directly ”out of the camara‟.

Uvala Lucica on Dugi Otok

Whether the bay at the Uvala Lucica on Dugi Otok, a bit buzzy, though, because of the small camping site, the dreamlike sandy beach on the Uvala Sakarun, recalling a Caipirinha feeling rather than Croatian Rakija, the coverted Uvala Cuna, the ”Blue Grotto‟ or, for historians, the former submarine bunkers of the Yugoslav Army – Dugi Otok has the right answer for everyone, be it landsmen or water sports enthusiasts. And the fact that the annual big wave of tourists is mainly sloshing past the beauty of nature of the Zadar valley does not cause too much regret by some of the water sportsmen.

According to their preferences, holidaymakers find anchoring buoys, moorings or little cosy restaurants, offering an abundant simple and tasty regional cuisine.

For the sake of good order here are some figures about the island: Dugi Otok is 45 kilometres long and between 1 to 4 kilometres wide. With an altitude of 338 metres, the Vela Straza is the highest elevation of the area. There are 12 villages with about 1550 inhabitants on Dugi Otok.
