A service from SeaHelp and MFT Mikrofiltertechnik:
“Tank doctors” on a home visit in Croatia
Once again in 2018, the “tank doctors” will be on a home visit in Croatia: based on the cooperation with SeaHelp, the German company MFT Mikrofiltertechnik will carry out fuel tank inspections in Croatia in order to prevent the so much dreaded diesel oil pest. From April 23 to April 29, 2018 (week 17) Christian Burmester and one of his colleagues will be on site in Croatia, in order to check diesel tanks. In any case, SeaHelp members are kindly requested to register in time for an inspection appointment, either via email or directly at the “boot” in Düsseldorf where SeaHelp as well as MFT Mikrofiltertechnik will be present with their respective booths.
The mere tank inspection will be 99 euros for SeaHelp members (109 euros for non-members) and includes a comprehensive endoscopy of the diesel tank. Should there any diesel oil pest sediments be detected in the tank, it is up to the owner to have them eliminated properly. Generally, for this purpose another appointment will be agreed in order to carry out the professional maintenance and, if necessary, the replacement of the fuel. Needless to say that there is as well a benefit for SeaHelp members: Our benefits partner MFT Mikrofiltertechnik is granting all SeaHelp members a 10% discount on its services, except any applied materials.
In recent years, we repeatedly received inquiries from skippers in Croatia complaining about sediments in their fuel system accompanied by filter plugging which, consequently, and then led to engine failure. SeaHelp pointed out the possible risks at quite an early stage, performed series experiments at the Olive Island Marina and is still coordinating appointments with the experienced “tank inspectors” during their stay in Croatia for the third year now.
