\nAntigen tests will be sufficient for entry into Croatia from April 1, 2021, and the costly PCR tests will no longer be required, as announced at today’s press conference of the National Headquarters for Civil Defense Croatia to combat the coronavirus pandemic. This measure is sure to bring relief to many Easter holidaymakers planning to travel to Croatia, especially Istria (not a coronavirus risk area).<\/p>\n

Entry Croatia in practice – antigen test valid for 10 days only<\/h2>\n

The measures, which were so expected in advance already (SeaHelp reported), are obviously knitted with the much-cited “hot needle”, so you should pay attention to the following when entering Croatia in the next few days, even if it is currently not yet found in a regulation text:<\/p>\n

  1. Antigen tests should also not be older than 48 hours when crossing the border, that is, between the test and entry into Croatia should not be more than 48 hours.<\/li>\n
  2. Antigen tests should not be self-tests, such as those that can be purchased in supermarkets. They should have been performed in a testing center, doctor’s office or pharmacy. In any case, a written confirmation of the performance and the result is required. Whether a confirmation on the cell phone in the form of a PDF document is sufficient, could not be found out in the short time available. Therefore, we recommend classically as a printout in paper form to show the result at the border.<\/li>\n
  3. Attention:<\/strong> The exemption from the PCR test requirement is valid only for 10 days from smear test, who stays longer than 10 days on site, must have another antigen test performed in Croatia.<\/li>\n
  4. Children do not have to be tested until they are 7 years old.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Vaccinated persons and convalescents without testing but with detection<\/h2>\n

    Also for vaccinated persons and persons who have already survived a COVID-19 disease, there should be relief when crossing the border in that they do not have to present any test. The vaccination or illness must have occurred no more than six months previously. In any case, both the vaccination against the coronavirus and the proof of the survived coronavirus disease must be proven in writing.<\/p>\n

    Primorje Gorski Kotar with high incidence figures<\/h2>\n

    Against the background of increasing new coronavirus infections in Croatia, it seems necessary to keep an eye on the current situation. In particular, the trend in Primorje Gorski Kotar County is causing concern with regard to incidence figures<\/a> of 779 new coronavirus infections in one week (7-day incidence) per 100,000 population, or 1,298 new coronavirus infections within 14 days (14-day incidence). Nevertheless, these figures should also be properly classified: While in so-called hotspots like Rijeka the coronavirus is spreading strongly, the island of Krk has so far hardly been affected by the strongly rising infection rates.<\/p>\n
