The Privlaka bridge, which until recently was “out of service until further notice”, is currently passable again. The bridge now opens again twice a day – at 9 am and at 18 pm, as in previous years.
Skippers who want to pass the swing bridge in Privlaka near Mali Lošinj to reach the marina located directly at the channel exit with their sailboats, currently have to pass the Kavuada channel in Osor. The swing bridge in Privlaka has already been closed for several days – when it will be reopened is currently unknown.

Many skippers liked to use the bridge in Privlaka so far to visit, coming from the east, the marina of the same name. The bridge passage itself is 80 meters long, eight meters wide, and its depth is about 2.4 meters. Until now, the drawbridge was opened every day at 9 a.m. and at 6 p.m., and only when there was a strong bora, it was closed because of dangerous waves.
But now the bridge has been closed for several days – without bora. This is also confirmed by the Port Authority of the County of Primorje-Gorski in Mali Lošinj on its official page. There it says about the closure only succinctly: “Information – bridge currently not in operation”.
Filip Balija of the County Port Authority in Mali Lošinj (ŽLU Mali Lošinj) informed on request that the bridge in question is not in his office area; the responsibility lies with HC (Hrvatske Ceste – Croatian Motorways, Ltd.).
Bridge in Privlaka already closed for two weeks, reason is a damage of the central axle
According to HC, the bridge has already been closed for two weeks, which means that the two parts of the island of Lošinj are now permanently connected. The reason for this is damage to the central axis of the bridge caused by too heavy trucks.
Currently, a solution to the problem is being sought, as well as a company that will carry out the repairs. As long as the bridge is not repaired, larger sailing yachts are advised to pass through the Kavuada channel in Osor (opening at 9 am and 5 pm) or to sail around the entire island.
