Entry from risk areas: Germany requires pre-registration from 15 November 2020

Germany: Entry from risk areas only with digital registration

Due to the spreading new infections with the coronavirus, Germany wants to introduce digital travel registration by November 15, 2020, according to dpa reports. Persons entering Germany from risk areas are said to have registered on an Internet portal before entering the country. The registration confirmation must be presented to the controlling officials upon entry into Germany. Those who do not register in advance risk being fined.

The responsible health authority receives data

The data will be forwarded to the public health department responsible for the home town of the person entering the country in order to enable random checks of the domestic quarantine. In addition, the Ministry of Health is working on a so-called “Musterquarantäne-Verordnung“, which will then be adopted by the individual federal states in the same form if possible.
