Yacht fires in Croatia: Fire at Marina Punat and Bajnica near Krilo Jesenice

Fire at Marina Punat - Yacht fire (Cranchi 47)

On two occasions in recent days, vessels have caught fire on the Croatian coast. A stroke of luck in misfortune: both times, the committed and rapid intervention of marina staff and the fire department prevented major damage.

Fire alarm at Marina Punat, not far from the SeaHelp operations center: yesterday, Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at around 11:00 a.m., a fire broke out on a motor yacht, presumably a Cranchi 47 Mediterranee.

Location of the incident: Pier A1, located on the left side of the otherwise very safe and modern marina. A video shows the extent of the blaze: flames can be seen leaping from the center of the sleek white motor yacht, with thick smoke beginning to develop immediately.

Rapid intervention prevents catastrophe: Marina staff and fire department fight the blaze

Marina employees were on the scene immediately – they promptly began initial firefighting efforts. A larger motor yacht moored to the left of the burning vessel was immediately moved as a precaution to prevent the flames from spreading. Shortly afterwards, the fire department from Krk arrived and began comprehensive extinguishing operations. The fire was under control within a short time.

“The marina workers and the firefighters worked in an organized, fast and effective manner,” said SeaHelp Managing Director Wolfgang Dauser. He noted that it was thanks to their courageous and professional actions that the fire could be extinguished quickly and that no further damage was recorded. The affected boat belongs to a German owner who is also a SeaHelp member; the cause of the fire is currently still being investigated.
