Dry Marina Vojko on Rab: The boat on land – and still doing the work yourself

Dry Marina Vojko on Rab

Where should the boat go once the holiday is over – or when maintenance work needs to be done during the season? On the island of Rab, the dry marina Vojko in Mundanije offers an uncomplicated alternative to traditional winter storage. What makes it special: owners are permitted to work on their boats themselves and are also free to hire their own craftsmen. In addition, SeaHelp members receive a ten percent discount on the services offered by Vojko.

Anyone who does not want to leave their boat in the water permanently knows the dilemma: a suitable dry berth should be secure and easily accessible – and ideally provide sufficient infrastructure to carry out maintenance and repair work directly on-site.

Just such an option exists right in the middle of the island of Rab. The “Vojko” dry marina is situated in Mundanije along the main road connecting the town of Rab and Lopar. According to the operator, it is located around one kilometer from the town center of Rab. Access is planned so that even large boat transports permitted on public roads can reach the premises without difficulty. The entire area is fully fenced, illuminated, and monitored.

Space for 70 – 80 boats

Vojko states an outdoor capacity of “around 70–80 boats” of varying sizes. Trailers, caravans, and motorcycles can also be accommodated.

The yard features a permeable gravel surface, which, according to the operator, ensures that even during heavy downpours, water collects on the parking bays as little as possible. Electricity and water connections are on hand, as are extension hoses and adaptors for various socket systems. Ladders and smaller cranes are likewise available for use.

The dry marina is particularly appealing to owners who prefer to work on their boat themselves. Unlike some winter storage facilities, Vojko reports that there is no obligation to use designated service providers: boat owners may carry out work on their own or hire a craftsman of their choice.

This makes the site well suited, for example, for minor maintenance, antifouling, care and preservation tasks, or repairs—provided these comply with local conditions and environmental regulations.

Transport to the crane available

Those who do not have a suitable towing vehicle or matching trailer can also receive assistance. Vojko operates its own powerful tractor unit, which can be used to transport trailers or boats between the dry marina and the crane at the port. A number of suitable boat cradles / stands are also available.

As a general rule, the boat owner should be present during the respective boat transport; in exceptional cases, boat or yacht movements can also be arranged without the owner’s presence (by individual agreement).

Practical for owners who want to work on their boat for a few days: The premises feature sanitary facilities with showers, parking spaces, and a covered lounge area.

From dry marina to restaurant

Vojko Krišković is already familiar to many Rab visitors from another context. For over 30 years, the family’s main business has been running Restaurant Vojko in the ACI Marina Supetarska Draga. SeaHelp has previously reported on the restaurant – touching upon the company’s own dry marina at the time, which remains a secondary line of business for Vojko.

This creates an attractive combination for boat owners on Rab: dry berths and winter storage on land, transport options, and the necessary infrastructure for boat maintenance – backed by a contact who has worked with water sports enthusiasts and yacht owners on the island for many years, even if the dry marina may not always provide the exact same scope of service as dedicated operations running dry storage as their primary business.

Advantage for SeaHelp members

SeaHelp members receive a ten percent discount on the services provided by the Vojko dry marina. Anyone in need of a storage berth, especially for the winter season, should inquire well in advance directly with the operator regarding available capacity and current rates for berths, transport, and additional services.

SeaHelp Tip: Especially when laying up a boat on land for an extended period, it is advisable to clarify beforehand which types of work are permitted on-site, whether specific protective measures are required for sanding, painting, or antifouling work, and which services – such as transport, cradles, or electricity consumption – are included in the agreed rate.
