boot Düsseldorf has also repeatedly proven itself to be a driver of innovation during its 54 years of existence. As early as the 1970s and 1980s, there were numerous forums on the subject of marine research. Diving pioneer Jacques-Yves Cousteau – “The prerequisite for knowledge is curiosity” – had chosen boot as his presentation platform and proclaimed here the protection of the seas as the declared goal of divers.

New at this year’s boot: the “blue innovation dock” in Hall 10 – right next to the SeaHelp booth

In 2023, boot once again proves to be an initiator and driver for marine and water protection as well as a sustainable strategy in boat building and marina expansion. The “blue innovation dock” in Hall 10 will provide impetus for EU-wide action over the nine days of the fair. The “love your ocean” stand in Hall 14 will also delight little explorers. Here there will be large measuring instruments from marine research, a microplastics lab and an algae lab to explore.

And with the “ocean tribute Award”, whose list of winners also includes Boris Herrmann with his Malizia team, boot Düsseldorf, together with the Monegasque Prince Albert II Foundation and the German Ocean Foundation, have created an internationally highly regarded and renowned prize. This year, the “ocean tribute Award” will again be presented live in front of an audience on January 23. The laudatory speech for the winner will be held by the well-known actor and ocean activist Hannes Jaenicke.

Fair hopes for “large and impressive water sports festival” in Düsseldorf

boot Director Petros Michelidakis: “Walking around the show floor today, after three years away, and seeing all the exhibitors’ boats and water sports products back in place is absolutely overwhelming. We are showing a boot that has everything on board and has grown again to the size we know. I am sure that this special boot flair will reach everyone and together with our exhibitors, visitors and stakeholders we will experience a great and impressive water sports festival.”
