From January 18, 2025, Hall 11 of boot Düsseldorf will be the meeting place for boat equipment and self-construction. The Refit Center is a central highlight for anyone who shares a passion for boatbuilding and inexpensive boat maintenance. Practical tips are also available from the SeaHelp staff right next door in Hall 10, Stand B56.

For many water sports enthusiasts, the boating season begins as early as winter. The Refit Center at the boot Düsseldorf water sports trade fair in Hall 11 offers a platform for sharing knowledge and exchanging experiences. Experts share their know-how on stage and in interactive workshops, inspiring visitors with practical insights. From the basics to advanced techniques, this is where boat owners can optimize their projects and prepare perfectly for the new season.

Focus on hulls and rigs

There is plenty for boat owners to keep them busy during the cold season. The focus is often on the hull and rig. The expert talks in the Refit Center are therefore dedicated to topics such as repairing, sanding, filling and painting GRP and wooden boats. With first-hand tips, the speakers from the Baumgart boatyard and M.u.H. von der Linden will ensure that minor damage is quickly repaired – so that the new season can begin without a hitch.

Digitization and electrics on board

The advance of digitization does not stop at pleasure boating. At the Refit Center 2025, visitors can learn how modern networks, satellite communication and optimized navigation make life on board easier. Christian Binsch will be shedding light on the path from shortwave to Starlink systems and providing insights into how the right on-board electronics can increase comfort; in addition, lectures will be held on the topics of self-sufficient ships and solar systems on board.

Practical know-how for sails and accessories

Ulrich Münker from Faber+Münker offers exciting insights into the world of sails. Whether cuts, profiles or repair techniques: visitors will learn how to repair minor damage themselves using a boatswain’s seam or an adhesive patch.

Workshops: join in and learn

“Do-it-yourself” remains the central motto of the workshops. Experts like Helge von der Linden show how epoxy resins and composites are used in the construction and repair of boats. Visitors can get involved under expert guidance – whether it’s painting or filling.

Splicing is also on the agenda: Sören Zopf demonstrates modern techniques for rope work – from mooring lines to soft shackles. Every participant has the opportunity to make their own splices.

Engine workshop for beginners

One of the highlights of the program is the engine workshop with Bert and Marlene Frisch and Hinnerk Weiler. From impeller changes and minor repairs to regular maintenance: the professionals will teach the basics of safe handling of on-board engines and provide practical tips for everyday life at sea.

Service and sustainability

In 2025, there is a special focus on sustainability. Experts will present new technologies and materials that improve the use of resources – from electric motors to environmentally friendly care products. The much-discussed Biocide Regulation 2025 also plays a role in the Refit Center.

Practical tips for boats are also available at the SeaHelp stand in the hall next door
