Soon more functioning gas stations in Croatia? – we asked in our June news post. The reason for this optimistic outlook was the Croatian government’s announcement that it intended to grant INA concessions for the use of gas stations in the maritime sector for a limited period of five years. It has now been determined that this does not apply to the Novalja gas station.
In our news article from June 19 we reported that the INA petrol station in Crikvenica for boats would remain “currently closed” and that the petrol station in Novalja on the island of Pag had been dismantled – which would mean that there would no longer be a petrol station for boats on Pag.
In an official information dated September 17, 2024, INA announced that the “INA sales point Crikvenica-Obala is currently being renovated” and “will reopen soon”, which is good news for all sports skippers, because at least it is now certain that they will be able to refuel there again soon (we will provide information about the exact date here).
INA statement: Crikvenica-Obala petrol station to reopen soon, Novalja-Obala to close permanently
The bad news is that the statement confirmed that the INA sales outlet Novalja-Obala is indeed to remain “permanently closed”. So it remains the case: those who end up here have only the option of heading 15 nautical miles north towards Rab, taking a 25-nautical-mile route west to Mali Losinj, or hoping that the fuel will last for the approximately 32 nautical miles to Zadar to the south.
